There are two fairy simple ways we've heard of to silence the camera by muting or disabling the shutter and the focus sounds on the Samsung Galaxy S2. A whole bunch of you have been asking about how to do it. Both these methods require you to have a rooted phone though. Follow the Read More link for full instructions
METHOD ONE (links camera sound to system volume control):
The To silence your Galaxy S2 camera sounds use a program like Root Explorer and navigate to the Root folder, then the Data folder. Then create a file called local.prop and enter one line of text which reads: ro.camera.sound.forced=0 . Restart your phone. Now you can switch the sound off by muting your phone.
METHOD TWO (renames the sound file so they system can't play it at all):
Navigate to /system/media/audio/ui from the root folder and rename all the files that have anything to do with camera, shutter, focus sounds.
UPDATE: We used method one, becuase although the explanation is a little longer, we found it much quicker, and it means you can always use the volume control to turn the sound back up if you prefer.
